Xuan paper (Shuen Paper) aka rice paper, was originated in ancient China used for writing and painting. Xuan paper is renowned for being soft and fine textured yet tough. Its ability to absorb water and moisten ink made them suitable for conveying the artistic expression of both Chinese calligraphy and painting. The artwork finished on Xuan paper often preserved in the format of a scroll.
